Machu Picchu Monday Eclipse Version
And it’s not even Monday.
It’s been a crazy week since we returned from Wyoming & the lovely Shoshone National Forest to see the Great Solar Eclipse 2017. We’re trying to keep up with a variety of work related projects, family issues, and just the normal day to day stuff. Watching the news seems mesmerizing as we watch the destruction and displacement of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. Daily temperatures have been climbing to 105F, and our brains have turned to mush, hence the tardy post.
We’d like to share our recent adventure here…
Before The Eclipse
We made our way to Wyoming with a side detour to Bryce Canyon National Park. It had been a while, so we had forgotten the grand beauty of the area.
After a night there, we meandered to Green River, Wyoming for a rest before “heading into the wild.” Continue reading Machu Picchu Monday Eclipse Version

First Monday in June. We’re enjoying the long days, but the daytime temps have recently climbed into the low 100’s & it’s not much fun trying to do stuff outside right now. Mornings are good though, so every day there’s some little project waiting.
Yesterday, in a rare moment of not paying attention to the desert while walking to the garden, I found myself within striking distance of Mohave Green rattlesnake. He coiled and rattled, and I jumped about 8 feet in a microsecond, heart pumping and a full shot of adrenaline. It was a moment of profound gratitude; it could have easily gone very wrong. My sense of caution is renewed…
Here’s a shot of some folks sitting on a bench to try to give a little perspective to the towering mountains surrounding Machu Picchu. No wonder it wasn’t discovered until 1911…
Machu Picchu Monday
Geez, it’s Monday alright. The jeep began to make some terrible sounds in Kingman today, but it turned to be just something that had come loose bouncing down the dirt roads out here.
But then after returning home, the bees began swarming on the front porch…see below for today’s bonus pic!
Here’s the Machu Picchu Monday photo, a shot taken with a look at some ancient ruins above Ollantaytambo, in the Sacred Valley:
As promised, today’s Monday surprise (the bees:)
