The bee saga continues at home. Luckily, the beekeeper will be here on Monday morning, so we can walk a little easier outside.
What started as just a few bees quickly morphed into a dark group of thousands of bees at the top of our front porch. During the day, the bees are still active in the porch, but also a large “clump” of bees has taken up residence on the ground at the edge of the porch below a Juniper tree. It’s a first for us…

The 2017 Specialty Coffee Expo was once again held in Seattle this year. It was another fabulous experience, and a chance to see many of our coffee friends and acquaintances.
We were happy to see that Peru was well represented again this year. It seems like every year they just take it to another level. We participated in a cupping of several award winners, as well as some wonderful naturals and honeys. It’s exciting to see the quality of Peruvian coffee return to the excellence that we saw before coffee rust wiped out so many farms in 2012. Go Peru!
We took a ton of pictures from the exhibit hall, but probably only touched on everything there. It was impressive! I had roaster envy with all of the many roasters on display, and there were so many delicious coffees for endless sampling. (I was pretty wired at the end of every day!)

It’s the first day of Spring, and we’re enjoying sunny days and temps in the 80’s, so it’s a pretty nice time to be in Arizona. The flowers are popping up daily (and our noses are running!) Some pics to follow in an upcoming post.
It’s a great day for roasting delicious coffee! Soon it will be time for cold brew 🙂

It’s been a rainy and windy weekend, but it portends gorgeous wildflowers in the Spring. The wildflowers of the desert Southwest are particularly beautiful in good year, and this last rain should do it. Meanwhile, it’s cool here (low 50s) while it was upper 60s in Ohio yesterday…

Hope everyone has had a good week. It was busy, but otherwise uneventful here in the desert of Northwest Arizona. Finally, the cold spell has broken and our daytime temperatures are in the upper 60s to low 70s again. Not a sign of rain in the forecast here, so our hopes of a special Spring wildflower season are diminishing. More rain, please!
