It’s a lovely day at the ranch. Low 70’s, and a hazy blue sky. I can handle 6 more weeks of this, but we do need rain…
A classic postcard…
Monday already…I was just getting used to Sunday. Here’s a shot taken along the Inca Trail. Have an amazing week!
January is slipping away. Hope your year is going well. It’s been a flurry of activity for us, and it’s all good. Here’s a look back:
A holiday today in the US. It’s Martin Luther King day. Here’s a continuing look at the market place in Pisaq below Cuzco. Pisaq is a wonderful spot to stop and recharge before heading deeper into the Sacred Valley and to Machu Picchu. It sits in a valley, and is surrounded by the Pisaq Archeological Park. It’s a stiff upwards hike…
This is a photo from Belen, which is on the Amazon next to Iquitos, Peru. Iquitos is the largest city in the world with no road access. The former rubber capital of the world features many striking colonial homes from that bygone era. Belen is a community of people that live on the Amazon, and will see the river rise and fall by dozens of feet, and the lower part of the houses will be underwater.
Here’s a couple from Pisaq, which is a fun market town just below Cuzco.
First Thursday of the New Year.
Iquitos is the largest city in the world that does not have road access.(pop 371,000) One has to take a quick flight from Lima, or the more adventurous river boats. Many of these old huts still exist and are lived in today along the ancient river “road.”
Seems like in the blink of an eye, it’s 2018. May it be a good one for all… Happy New Year!
