Actor from ‘Lost’ Recently Participated in a Condor release in Huarochirí, Peru

Staff of the National Forest and Wildlife Service (SERFOR) released a condor in Huarochiri, which is in the highlands of Lima. Dominic Monaghan, actor of the ‘Lostseries and ‘The Lord of the Ringsaccompanied the team of the institution as part of the recordings for their series of documentaries about wildlife ‘Wild Things’.

 

Monaghan appears in several of the pictures in this photo gallery. As reported, the Andean condor female was released just over 3,400 meters above sea level (masl), in the district of San Antonio de Chaclla.

According SERFOR, it is the third condor released after two other specimens were reinserted into the wild last May as part of the National Plan Condor Conservation (2015-2025).

It is estimated that in Peru there are between 600 and 2,500 condors.

Subsequently, the condor was taken to zoo &hatchery El Huaic, where he was restored with exercise of his muscles staying in a cage of 9 meters high.
